Eugenia Fernandez and Alcorn State University softball hosted Prairie View A&M University for Senior Weekend. The Lady Braves and Alcorn State Athletics gave student-athletes
Genise Wells,
Kristian Edwards,
Hannah Miller, and
Ashanti Carter their flowers on Saturday for Senior Day. ASU fought valiantly in each game but dropped the contests with scores of 0-2, 7-11, and 1-4.
Game One
Alcorn scored no runs on four hits while committing an error. Edwards, Miller, and
Kiri Parker each accounted for a hit.
The Lady Panthers scored two runs on six hits with no errors. Biviana Figueroa and Aerin Talley had a home run and RBI each.
Breanna Reyna picked up the win with a complete game pitched for four hits, two walks, three strikeouts and 26 batters faced.
Parker suffered the loss with a complete game pitched for six hits, two runs, two walks, five strikeouts, and 28 batters faced.
Game Two
The Lady Braves scored seven runs on 10 hits while committing three errors.
Yahnya Acevedo had three hits, two runs and three batted in.
Kelsey Lockridge finished with two hits and two RBI.
PV scored 11 runs on 12 hits while committing three errors. Figueroa had a hit, a run and batted three in on a home run. Jaylyn Davis ended the game with two hits, one run, and two RBI. Isabella Rodriguez finished with a hit, a run, and two batted in.
Cailin Massey earned the win for Prairie View A&M with three innings pitched for six hits, five runs, a walk, two strikeouts, and 16 batters faced.
Ta'Niya Fletched picked up the loss for Alcorn with two innings pitched for four hits, five runs (three earned), a walk, three strikeouts, and 14 batters faced.
Game Three
ASU scored a run on six hits while committing two errors. Parker finished the day with a run and an RBI.
The Lady Panthers scored four runs on five hits with no errors. Mia Nunez had two hits and two runs batted in. Audrey Garcia ended the day with an RBI.
Jerrica Rojas snapped up the win for Prairie View A&M with a complete game pitched for six hits, a run, a walk, a strikeout, and 27 batters faced.
Parker suffered the loss for Alcorn with a complete game pitched for five hits, four runs (three earned), five walks, eight strikeouts, two wild pitches, and 35 batters faced.
Alcorn State will be back in action on Tuesday as they head to Hammond, La. to play Southeastern Louisiana University for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
