LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State Braves women's volleyball team returns home to host Tougaloo College on Monday, Sept. 16 at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. This matchup will be an exciting contest as the Braves look to bounce back from a hard-fought match against the University of New Orleans, while Tougaloo aims to build on its recent success.

Alcorn State (2-5) comes off a competitive five-set match against New Orleans on Saturday, where the Braves fell just short with a final score of 3-2. The Braves were led by standout performances from Sydney Valentine and Bailey Upshaw, both of whom provided crucial kills throughout the match. Valentine posted a team-high of 11 kills with an impressive .333 hitting percentage, while Upshaw added eight kills and hit at a .500 clip​.
In that match, Ramona Pulu was key to Alcorn's defense with 17 digs and also contributed on the offensive end with 14 assists​. Despite the loss, the Braves showcased their depth with strong contributions from players like Kasey Watkins, who recorded 11 digs and five service aces​.

Tougaloo College (1-5) enters this contest on a high note after securing their first win of the season in a sweep against Wiley College on Sept. 8​. Tougaloo's Lashundria Chatman led the team with 10 kills and an outstanding .444 hitting percentage, while Tatyeanna Armstrong contributed defensively with eight digs and 10 assists​.
The Bulldogs are strong at the net, with Zoie Chambers and Kaliyah Shavers adding valuable points both offensively and defensively. Chambers contributed six kills and 10 digs against Wiley, while Shavers added eight kills with a .235 hitting percentage​.
