LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University volleyball team secured a commanding 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-20,25-23) over Tougaloo College on Monday night at the Davey L. Whitney Health & Physical Education Complex.
    The Lady Braves (1-5) came out strong and showed impressive teamwork and resilience throughout the match, earning their first win of the season. Alcorn's offense was led by
Ramona Pulu with a match-high 11 kills and
Sydney Valentine contributing six kills of her own.
Brooklyn Shook dished out a solid performance, recording 14 assists.
    Alcorn's defensive efforts were also key to their victory. Pulu led the way for the Lady Braves with 14 digs.
Harmoni Carswell anchored the back row with 13 digs, while the team's blocking at the net proved critical, totaling four team blocks. The Lady Braves held Tougaloo to a .102 hitting percentage while Alcorn attacked at an impressive .248 clip.
    Alcorn State returns to action later this week, looking to build on the momentum as they head into conference play.
