HOUSTON – Alcorn State men's basketball put up a strong fight but fell 66-57 to Texas Southern on Saturday evening at the Health & Physical Education Arena.
Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt finished 12 points, including two three-pointers, while Djahi Binet added a near double-double with nine points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Davian Williams provided a spark off the bench, scoring 13 points and hitting two three-pointers. Despite a solid second-half performance where the Braves outscored Texas Southern 45-32, the first-half deficit proved too much to overcome.

First Half – Texas Southern 34, Alcorn 12
- The Braves struggled offensively, shooting just 15.4% from the field in the first half.
- Binet scored four of Alcorn's points and dominated the glass with nine rebounds.
- Texas Southern capitalized on Alcorn turnovers, building a commanding lead with Zaire Hayes scoring 10 first-half points.
Second Half – Texas Southern 66, Alcorn 57
- Alcorn found its rhythm in the second half, shooting 47.2% from the field and hitting five three-pointers.
- Gaines-Wyatt and Williams combined for 15 points in the half, sparking a 10-3 run that trimmed the deficit.
- Binet's putbacks and defensive presence kept the Braves within striking distance, but Texas Southern's clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes secured the win.
