Lady Braves Fall On The Road At Grambling State, 82-69

GRAMBLING, LA – Alcorn State women's basketball battled hard but fell short in an 82-69 loss to Grambling State in a SWAC matchup on Thursday evening at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. Despite a strong start and key performances from multiple players, the Lady Braves were unable to contain Grambling's offensive efficiency.

Destiny Brown led Alcorn with 17 points and six rebounds while also adding a block and a steal. Kailyn Watkins provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, hitting four three-pointers. Zy'Nyia White contributed 10 points, while Nakia Cheathman and Kiarra Henderson combined for 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Braves' depth was evident, as their bench contributed 42 points.

Grambling took control in the first quarter and maintained their lead throughout, despite multiple comeback efforts by Alcorn.

  • Grambling's defense forced key turnovers, helping the Tigers extend their lead to double digits by halftime.
Third Quarter – Grambling 66, Alcorn 51
  • The Lady Braves showed resilience, cutting the deficit to single digits midway through the quarter behind baskets from White and Cheathman.
  • Grambling responded with a 10-2 run, led by three-pointers from Warmsley and Arianna Mosley, keeping Alcorn from closing the gap.
  • Alcorn remained perfect from the free-throw line in the quarter, going 4-for-4.
