HOUSTON, Texas – Alcorn State women's soccer wrapped up its 2025 regular season on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Texas Southern at Durley Field. The Lady Braves finish the campaign with a 4-7-4 overall record and a 3-3-2 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, setting their sights next on the upcoming SWAC Women's Soccer Championships hosted by Prairie View A&M.
The Lady Braves showed strong energy throughout the match, out shooting Texas Southern 6-5 in the first half and applying consistent pressure in the attacking third. Iesha Rollins led Alcorn offensively with four shots, including one on target, while Elive Larissa Joso Luma added three shots—one of which required a save. Ainara Aldeano and Sophia Lopez also contributed shots on goal in the effort.
In goal, Maria Heuman played the full 90 minutes, recording three saves against 14 Texas Southern shots.
Texas Southern scored once in each half, with Tess Kelder opening the scoring in the 41st minute and Kamara Bradley adding an insurance goal early in the second half.
Despite the result, Alcorn displayed strong midfield control and defensive resolve behind the back line of Veronica Smith, Viviana Sanchez, Yeirdan Padilla, and Joso Luma, keeping the Lady Tigers' attack limited for much of the match.
With the regular season concluded, the Lady Braves now turn their attention to postseason play as they prepare for the SWAC Women's Soccer Championships, hosted by Prairie View A&M. Tournament seeding and match details will be announced by the conference office.
