HOUSTON, Texas – Alcorn State volleyball dropped its Sunday afternoon road contest to Texas Southern, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-11) inside the Health & Physical Education Arena.
Courtney Carter led the Lady Braves with four kills and nine digs, while Rylan Jones and Kyla Powell each chipped in three kills apiece. Juliana Henao guided the offense with 14 assists and added five digs, and libero Tomoni Giddings turned in six digs and one kill.
At the net, Michaela Branner added two kills and two digs, while Kasey Watkins registered a kill and an assist.
Texas Southern controlled the match from start to finish, hitting .379 as a team with 51 total kills. The Lady Braves finished with 19 kills and 26 digs but struggled to find rhythm offensively, hitting -.084 overall.
The loss drops Alcorn State to 2-23 overall and 1-11 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The Lady Braves return to action next weekend to continue SWAC competition.
