PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Alcorn State women's soccer team's historic postseason run came to an end Friday evening, as the Lady Braves fell 6-0 to top-seeded Grambling State in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals at Lady Panther Soccer Field.
Alcorn, coming off its first-ever tournament victory earlier in the week, closed the 2025 campaign with a 5-8-4 overall record (3-4-2 SWAC).
Grambling struck early and often, building a 3-0 lead by halftime behind goals from Alana Aiken (16'), and a pair from Liana Bryant (28', 31'). The Lady Tigers added three more in the second half — a penalty from Sophia Lezizidis (50'), another from Lezizidis assisted by Bryant (56'), and a final goal by Adalie Hernandez (57').
Despite the scoreline, Alcorn generated several offensive looks. Elive Larissa Joso Luma and Annick Zouma each placed shots on target, while Veronica Smith and Michelle Lesmes Diaz came off the bench to add attacking pressure. Goalkeeper Maria Heuman recorded one save in the first half before giving way to Bame Mokime, who tallied five stops over the final 51 minutes.
The Lady Braves totaled eight shots — six on frame — and earned four corner kicks while holding nearly 46 percent possession.
The semifinal appearance capped a remarkable turnaround season for head coach Ken Kabiru and the Lady Braves, highlighted by their first SWAC Tournament win in program history and multiple postseason awards for players including Annick Zouma, Larissa Joso Luma, and Iesha Rollins.
Alcorn State now looks ahead to the 2026 season with a strong core returning from its breakthrough campaign.
