LORMAN, Miss. - Alcorn State men's basketball delivered a dramatic finish Monday afternoon, edging Prairie View A&M 76–75 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The Braves capped the game with a fast-break layup in the final seconds to secure the home victory and snap a tight back-and-forth contest that featured 11 lead changes and seven ties.

The game was tied 39–39 at halftime, with neither team able to create separation through the opening 20 minutes. Prairie View relied on transition offense early, while Alcorn State countered with work inside and second-chance opportunities to keep the score level heading into the break.

Dontae Horne paced all scorers for Prairie View with 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including four three-pointers, while Cory Wells added 19 points and eight rebounds. The Panthers shot 48.1 percent from the field and finished 16-of-19 at the free-throw line, keeping consistent pressure on the Braves throughout the afternoon.

Alcorn State responded with a balanced offensive effort and timely plays down the stretch. Omari Hamilton led the Braves with 20 points and nine rebounds, providing a steady presence in the paint. Dontae Williams followed with 11 points, while Nick Woodard added 11 points and eight rebounds. Tycen McDaniels chipped in 12 points and four rebounds, and Shane Lancaster contributed nine points and five assists.

The Braves controlled key interior categories, outscoring Prairie View 48–30 in the paint and holding a 16–2 edge in second-chance points. Alcorn State also received a strong lift from its bench, which accounted for 27 points.

With the game tied at 75 in the closing seconds, Alcorn State forced a turnover and pushed the ball in transition. Williams finished at the rim with two seconds remaining to seal the one-point victory and send the home crowd into celebration.

Alcorn State improves to 3–14 overall and 2–3 in SWAC play. The Braves return to action on the road Saturday, traveling to Tallahassee, Florida, for a conference matchup at Florida A&M.
