Lorman, Miss. – Alcorn State men's basketball returns to conference action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when the Braves travel to Huntsville to face Alabama A&M in a 4 p.m. SWAC showdown. The matchup presents another opportunity for Alcorn to turn experience into progress as league play continues.
Through the opening stretch of the season, the Braves have been tested by one of the nation's toughest schedules, facing multiple Power Five opponents and road-heavy challenges. That grind has helped shape a core group that continues to grow together heading deeper into conference play.
Leading the way offensively is
Shane Lancaster, who has emerged as Alcorn's top scorer at 12.2 points per game. Lancaster is shooting an efficient 54.2 percent from the field and an impressive 58.8 percent from three-point range, giving the Braves a reliable perimeter threat.
Davian Williams adds 9.0 points per game while contributing across the board with 2.8 rebounds and a team-high 18 steals.
Tycen McDaniels has been a steady presence inside, averaging 8.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest while anchoring the paint defensively.
Nick Woodard and
Jameel Morris have also played key roles in the rotation. Woodard averages 8.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while Morris chips in 8.1 points and provides consistent ball pressure and playmaking in the backcourt. As a team, Alcorn has shown the ability to stretch the floor, shooting 37.6 percent from beyond the arc, an area that could prove critical against Alabama A&M.
Saturday's contest marks another step in the Braves' push to translate lessons learned into results.
