LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Athletics has announced that construction is underway on a new on-campus tennis facility that will provide a new home for the Braves men's and women's tennis programs.

Construction on the facility began in September 2026, marking another step in Alcorn State's continued commitment to enhancing its athletics infrastructure and providing its student-athletes with quality facilities in which to train and compete.

"These upgrades mirror our commitment to excellence across all parts of our student-athletes' experience here at Alcorn State," said Dr. Tracy M. Cook, president. "We are making a commitment to improve all of our athletic facilities to enhance our competitive atmosphere."

Designed by Major Design Studio, the new tennis facility will serve both the Alcorn State men's and women's tennis programs and is being designed to accommodate Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and other NCAA tennis competition.

The facility will feature multiple competition courts, spectator seating, ADA-accessible accommodations and Alcorn State branding throughout the complex. The project is designed to create an improved competition and training environment for Braves student-athletes while also enhancing the experience for spectators attending matches on campus.

"The construction of this new tennis facility represents an important investment in our student-athletes and the future of Alcorn State Athletics," said Director of Athletics E. D'Wayne Robinson. "Our men's and women's tennis programs deserve a facility that reflects the standard we are working to establish across our athletics department. This project will provide our student-athletes with an improved environment to train and compete while giving our fans and campus community a facility they can be proud of."

Beyond serving as the home of Braves tennis, the facility's ability to accommodate SWAC and other NCAA competition provides Alcorn State with opportunities to host collegiate tennis events on its Lorman campus.

The project also represents a significant enhancement for the men's and women's tennis programs from a recruiting and student-athlete experience standpoint, providing current and prospective Braves with an on-campus facility designed for collegiate competition.

Additional details regarding the facility, including its anticipated completion date and additional amenities, will be announced as they become available.
