Baton, Rouge, La- A 11-game road skid has been snapped dating back to last season, as the Lady Braves (2-13,2-3) defeated the Southern University Lady Jags in four sets (11-25),(25-21), (26-24),(25-14). This win also snapped a six-game skid against the Jags.

Set One: Alcon and Southern Battled through a competitive set, with the Jaguars ultimately taking the set 25-11. Southern hit the ground running, building a 4-0 early lead. Later in the set, Alcorn responded with a kill from Courtney Carter, set up by Daylin Saiki. Jaylynn McNeill then added another kill, assisted by Saiki, as Alcorn trimmed the deficit to 7-4, but Southern maintained the set. 

Set Two: A match improvement for the Lady Braves, taking a 9-5 lead early in the set behind kills from Bailey Upshaw, Courtney Carter, and Rylan Jones. Jaguars battled back to cut into the lead, but Alcorn maintained the advantage and led 18-11, taking the second set. 

Set Three: 26-24 win as the Lady Braves held on in the third set. Early action was a seesaw battle, with neither team giving away a lead. With a 7-6 lead, the lady Braves went on a 5-point run, going up 12-6. Jaguars did find ways to come back late, tying the game 24-24, but Alcorn would slip away, taking the set 26-24. 

Set Four: In the final set, Alcorn came out firing with a 10-3 lead, behind a strong offensive stretch featuring Courtney Carter, Cristin Webb, and Alexis Burton. Southen attempted to come back, but the Braves maintained the set. Southern briefly cut into the lead, but the Braves maintained control and extended the margin to 20-10. Southern scored three straight to make it 20-13, but Alcorn answered with the final two points, including a Webb kill from Burton, to win the set 25-14.

 Rylan Jones led the Lady Braves with 14 kills while hitting .444, marking a season-high hitting percentage. Daylin Saiki recorded 33 assists, marking her third match this season with 30 or more assists. Saiki also surpassed 300 assists on the season. Courtney Carter and Tomoni Giddings combined for 30 of Alcorn's 58 digs.
