Maya Hunkin-Claytor poured in a season-high 22 on Saturday afternoon as Alcorn erased a halftime deficit to pull off a thrilling 66-57 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) win over visiting Bethune-Cookman in a women's basketball contest taking place at Davey L. Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi.

With the win, Alcorn pulls off the first season sweep of Bethune-Cookman since the Wildcats joined the SWAC in 2021.

Braves Standouts
•
Maya Hunkin-Claytor had a season-high 22 points with all of her field goals coming from three-point range.
• Hunkin-Claytor finished the day shooting 7-for-12 from long range.
•
Chrishunti Walker reached double figures for the fourth game – her third in the last four outings, scoring 13 points in the contest.
•
Nakia Cheatham handed out a game-high five assists.
• With 11 points provided, Kiarra Hender touched double digits for the fifth consecutive contest. She also finished with eight rebounds.

How It Happened
• Bethune-Cookman shot a season-best first half percentage from the floor (48.1%) as the Wildcats took a 33-26 lead into the locker room at the break.
• Alcorn trailed 14-12 after the opening quarter with the Braves shooting just 26.7 percent from the field.
• BCU built a 21-12 lead just under two minutes into the second quarter off the end of a Madison Holden three-pointer from the left elbow.
• The Purple and Gold went on an 8-0 run sparked by Henderson scoring five points in the run, allowing the Braves to cut the lead at 21-20 in just a two-minute span towards the middle of the second stanza.
• Alcorn used a Hunkin-Claytor three-pointer to begin the second half scoring, kickstarting a 17-0 run in the process.
• After another Hunkin-Claytor three-pointer, the Braves led 43-33 with 6:05 remaining in the third period.
• Holden connected on another of her team-high four (4) three-pointers for the Wildcats to knot the game at 45-all with 2:35 left.
• As the Purple and Gold held a 53-51 lead in the fourth quarter, Cheatham hit on one of two free throws to begin a 7-2 Alcorn run that saw the Braves lead swell to 57-51.

Ja'Sharreah Hunt would score the final four points of the game for the Braves at the foul line to close out the win and turn in the team's ninth consecutive win at home.
• Alcorn converted 22 Bethune-Cookman turnovers into 37 points.
• BCU outrebounded the Braves by a 35-25 advantage, while also shooting 46.8 percent from the field.
