LAFAYETTE, La. – Alcorn dropped a 4-0 decision away to Louisiana on Friday afternoon as the Braves men's tennis team was unable to snap a losing skid at Cajun Courts in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Louisiana (7-6) claimed two of the three available doubles matches to take the doubles point.
The tandem of David Simeonov and Nikola Kolyachev led the way with a 6-1 victory over the Alcorn (3-14) team of
Sebastian Griffiths and
Fabian Juarez at No. 2 doubles, followed by Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay's 6-2 win over
Matthew Holl and
Vicent Llobell Buigues at No. 1. The No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished with the Braves using the duo of
Tomas Grime and
Jorge Prats Navarrete, respectfully.
The Ragin' Cajuns needed just three completed matches to clinch the team victory.
Tramolay dismissed
Matthew Holl 6-0, 6-0 on court two for the 2-0 Louisiana advantage.
Gianluca Filoramo followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over
Fabian Juarez at No. 6, and Darius Balan posted a 6-1, 6-1 decision over
Tomas Grime in the fourth spot to clinch the match for the homestanding Ragin' Cajuns.
Three additional singles matches at positions 1, 3 and 5 were left unfinished after the team result was decided, with Louisiana holding leads in each.
The Braves return home for their next match when hosting Troy to Halls Ferry Tennis Courts in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on Sunday, March 22, beginning at 10 a.m.
