Vicksburg, Miss- Alcorn (3-3) notched a 3-1 win, marking its first program win over Jacksonville State, Thursday afternoon at Keys Park in Vicksburg, MS. Last year, these two met in Jacksonville, AL, where the Braves lost a 1-0 heartbreaker.

Alcorn got to work quickly, and Grace Ambrose scored twice in the opening minutes, adding two more insurance goals to earn a convincing 4-1 win.

Ambrose opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game, finding the back of the net at 4:53. Just over two minutes later, Ambrose scored again at 6:54, this time with Annick Zouma providing the assist to give the Braves an early 2-0 lead.

Alcorn continued to pressure the Gamecocks, with Elive Larissa Jose Luma extending the lead at 11 and 24. Zouma and Ambrose combined to set up the goal, giving the Brave a 3-0 advantage. 

Jacksonville State answered shortly after, with Emma Reeder scoring to cut the score to 3-1.

Braves carried the lead into the second half before Leyla Llanos Boursiquot added the late goal in the 70th minute. Zouma recorded their third assist of the match on the play, helping the Braves secure the 4-1 win.
