On a very cold day in February, the Braves faced in-state foe Mississippi State in Starkville this evening. The Braves allowed 14 hits and recorded four errors picking up their fifth loss of the season 10-2.
After a scoreless first inning, Mississippi State scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to go ahead 3-0.
Dervincent Hamilton put the Braves on the scoreboard in the top of the third leading off with a homerun over the left field wall.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Scottie Peavey scored the Braves second run of the game on a RBI single by
Ashton Lewis.
Jonathan Morales was credited with his first loss of the season.
The Braves return to the diamond this weekend as they welcome Jackson State to McGowan Stadium for their first SWAC East three-game series. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled at noon followed by game three on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
