The Alcorn State baseball team returned to action with a huge contest this evening against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma in Normal, Okla. The Braves got the bats going but it wasn't enough as they picked up their fourth straight loss to the Sooners 9-4.
Both teams were scoreless through two until the Sooners cracked open the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Collin Carroll scored the Braves first run in the top of the fourth inning on a double to right center by
Jordan Boston.
The Sooners quickly answered the Braves one-run inning with a two-run inning of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Two innings later in the top of the sixth inning.
Earl Burl III hit a single to right field to score
LaDerrick Williams. Peavey would later score Burl on a single to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Sooners came away with three runs in the bottom half to push the lead to 7-3.
Boston picked up his second RBI of the game in the to score
Scotty Peavey and that would do it for the Braves for the night.
Jonathan Morales was credited with the loss.
The Braves and Sooners finish the two-game series tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.
