The Alcorn State baseball team earned the fourth spot in the SWAC East, and will face no. 1 seed Texas Southern Tigers from the West Division tomorrow at 6 p.m. from Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans, La.
This is the first meeting between the two teams this season but they're no stranger to each other in the SWAC Tournament. Â In the past three seasons, the Braves have met the Tigers and have a compiled a record of 2-1 in those three years.
Scotty Peavey currently leads the Braves in hitting with a batting average of .360 on the season with 12 doubles and 11 homeruns. Â
Collin Carroll is batting .343 with 15 doubles and 11 homeruns. Â
Earl Burl III became one of the three players in Alcorn State history to record five or more homeruns, doubles and triples in a season. Â He posted eight doubles, five triples and five homeruns during the regular season.
The Tigers enter the SWAC Tournament with a 26-16 overall record and a 16-7 record in SWAC West play.
