LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State University soccer program dropped a 3-0 decision to Texas Southern University on Senior Day Sunday afternoon in its home finale inside Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.

Redshirt freshman Rita Okoro fired eight shots with her best chance coming in the 75th minute. Okoro slipped the ball past the keeper but it hit the post and ricocheted away. The Lady Braves (1-6, 1-4 SWAC) totaled 11 shots including three on goal. 

Freshmen Taylor Linney and Giselle Rojas combined for nine saves alternating at goalie between the two halves of play.

Alcorn midfielder Viktoriya Mihaylova had a chance close to the 15th-minute mark, but Alexis Robles was able to deny the goal. 

The Lady Tigers (7-5-1, 5-0-1 SWAC) scored two goals in two minutes late in the first half. Kayla Smith buried a goal on a ball from Ysamar Alonso in the 36th minute. Rojas saved a Kailand Thompson shot two minutes later but Thompson found the back of the net on a second attempt  after a failed clearance. 

TSU added another goal on a deep shot from Paige Hayward, the SWAC's leading goalscorer. 

The Lady Braves will travel east next weekend to face Alabama A&M Friday at 3 p.m. and Alabama State Sunday at 1 p.m. to commence a five-match road stretch.
