Yaira Guardado netted two goals as the Alcorn State University soccer program recorded a 4-2 victory over Southern University friday night inside Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
This marked the Lady Braves first win since Oct. 11, 2013.

Viktoriya Mihaylova during the sixth minute and maneuvered a goal around the keeper to give Alcorn (1-3, 1-1 SWAC) an early 1-0 lead.
Guadado then assisted senior
Comfort Agyei in the 43rd minute on a high ball into the box that was tapped in for another score.
Guardado connected for another goal in the 62nd minute on a similar play, skillfulyl working around the keeper and finding the back of the net for a 3-0 Lady Braves advantage.
After the Lady Jaguars (1-8, 1-2 SWAC) fought back with two consecutive goals, redshirt freshman
Rita Okoro found space and powered a shot into that the Southern goalie thought was a save before the official ruled the ball had crossed the goal line.

Giselle Rojas notched five saves.
The Lady Braves return to action Sunday when they host Jackson State in a 1 p.m. tilt.
