LORMAN, Miss. – With the wind blowing in and scattered rainfalls through the middle innings, the Alcorn State University baseball program fell 4-0 to Alabama A&M on Friday in the first of a three-game series at Willie "E" Rat McGowan Stadium.

Alcorn (7-13, 3-4 SWAC) was led by senior
Jason Sanez and junior
Der'Vincent Hamilton who both recorded a pair of hits. It marked Sanez's seventh multi-hit game of the season and Hamilton's fourth. Sanez also extended his hitting-streak to five.

Junior
Wallace Rios Jimenez posted a one-for-three night with a walk. He's now reached safely in all 17 games he's played. Junior
Kirt Cormier doubled to left field in the first inning to extend his on-base streak to 10.

The Braves only allowed one earned run in the game as they committed three errors in the field. Junior
Jahborus Smith (0-5) surrendered one earned run in 5.0 innings and struck out three. Senior Austin Willis-Green tossed 2.0 hitless innings, while sophomore
Tyler Smith and senior
Daniel Corona also fired scoreless frames.

AAMU (6-19, 3-4 SWAC) saw Caleb Gay (2-2) throw 8.0 innings of shutout ball.

The Bulldogs did not have an RBI in the contest. Zeth Malcom and Carson McGregory both notched a pair of hits.

AAMU scored a pair in the fourth inning. The first came on a wild pitch and the second was after an error. The Bulldogs plated two more in the fifth in similar fashion as a misplayed ball in the outfield resulted in both runs scoring.

Alcorn will look to even up the series Saturday when the team's get started at 3 p.m.
