MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With a pair of walks, junior
Wallace Rios Jimenez from the Alcorn State University baseball program extended his league-leading on-base streak Friday night, but Alabama State took a 10-0 decision in seven innings at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Rios wasted little time as he led off the game by taking four pitches outside the zone to increase his streak to 22 games. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native drew another base on balls in the fifth to increase his on-base percentage from .474 to .480.

Kirt Cormier also extended his on-base streak to 13 games with a walk in the fourth.

Alcorn (7-18, 3-7 SWAC) garnered hits in the game from junior
Der'Vincent Hamilton and senior
Patrick McMahon. Hamilton led-off the third frame with a double to left field, while McMahon singled to center in the fifth.

Hamilton is riding a seven-game hitting streak.

The Hornets (12-15, 8-2 SWAC) scored four in the first, four in the second and one in the fifth and sixth. Gustavo Rios finished three-for-three with three RBI. Joseph Estrada registered a two-run inside the park homer in the first inning.

Regynold Johnson (0-3) got the start for the Braves and struck out a pair in 4.0 innings. Sophomore
Tyler Smith entered in relief and also recorded a pair of strike outs in 2.0 frames.

Tyler Howe (4-3) tossed a seven-inning complete-game for ASU and struck out 10.
