Howard Tops Alcorn 5-0

LORMAN, Miss. – The Alcorn State University soccer program fell to Howard 5-0 Sunday at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium.
 
The Lady Braves (0-10, 0-5 SWAC) fired eight shots in the game including three from freshman Johanna Seelhorst and a pair from senior Yaira Guardado.
 
Howard (6-6-1, 4-1-1 SWAC) took control early with a goal in the fourth minute by Jordan Taylor. It was the first of two goals from Taylor on the day.
 
Alcorn's best chance came on a corner kick in the 89th minute, but the kick by junior Anjelica Dugan was cleared away.
 
The shorthanded Lady Braves saw eight field players log 90 minutes. Both goalkeepers played as junior Giselle Rojas got the start and blocked a save, and sophomore Kameran Proby tallied eight saves.
 
It was the first of a five-game home stand for Alcorn. The Lady Braves will be back in action when they host Southern at 4 p.m. Friday.
