BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program saw sophomore Paula Solé Cabeza sink her first two career goals during the Lady Braves 5-2 defeat versus Howard.
 
Solé Cabeza put the purple and gold on the board in the 55th minute as she launched a perfectly placed penalty shot past Preseason SWAC Defensive Player of the Year Alayah Hightower on her first ever penalty kick attempt.
 
The midfielder from Barcelona, Spain then blasted a free kick missile into the back of the net during the 83rd minute to convert both of her shots on the day into points for the Lady Braves.
 
Freshman defender Saskia Draaijer logged her first career shot while fellow defender, senior Gemma Dunn, had a shot on goal as well.

Alcorn was the first SWAC team in eight tries to score on the Bison as Hightower had shutout every conference opponent she had faced up to this point.
 
Freshman Kali Helms notched her fifth double-digit save performance of 2019, pulling in 15 saves.
 
Helms has 115 on the campaign and is now four behind Elaine Opusunju for third place on the single season saves list. 
 
Alcorn returns to the pitch on Friday afternoon when it faces the Lady Tigers of Jackson State on the road at 4 p.m. from JSU Soccer Field.
