NEW ORLEANS – Coming off a lopsided win in its last outing, the Alcorn State University men's basketball program will look to carry momentum into Monday when it travels to Tulane for a 7 p.m. tip at the Devlin Fieldhouse.

Alcorn (3-5) used a monster second half to defeat Rust College in its last outing 108-62. The Braves outscored the Bearcats 56-19 in the second half. Six Alcorn student-athletes scored in double-figures, including senior
Maurice Howard with 19 points.

The Braves have been a second half team all year. They've outscored the opposition 308-265 in the second.

Alcorn has four student-athletes averaging in double-figure scoring. It includes junior
Troymain Crosby (13.1 ppg), Howard (12.7 ppg), senior
Deshaw Andrews (11.9 ppg) and senior
Corey Tillery (10.5 ppg).

The Braves have done a lot of damage from the three-point line this year, and lead the conference in threes made per game with (9.0). Individually, Howard ranks second in the league in threes made per game (2.7), while Tillery is third (2.5).

Alcorn also leads the SWAC in both three-point percentage defense (.282) and free throw percentage (.712). Andrews is 23-for-26 (.885) from the line.

Alcorn's leading rebounder is junior
Kobe Wilson. He ranks top-five in the conference in rebounding with 6.4 per game.

The Braves will be the third team from the SWAC to square off with Tulane (7-2). The Green Wave have already beaten Jackson State 88-79 and Southern 82-65. Tulane also has notable wins over Utah 65-61 and Southern Miss 61-56.

Teshaun Hightower scores a team-high 16.4 points per game. K.J. Lawson is just under him with 15.8 points per outing and is shooting .432 from beyond-the-arc and averages over 35 minutes per game.

Alcorn's next home game is Friday, Dec. 20 when it hosts Ecclesia at 5:30 p.m. at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

NOTES
- Alcorn will meet Tulane for the third time in school history. The Braves are going for their first win in the series.

- The Braves looking for their first non-conference win over a Division I opponent since 2012-13 when they topped Samford 69-65 in overtime. However, all wins from 2012-13 were vacated by the NCAA. Prior to that season, the last DI non-conference win was against Jacksonville State 70-68 in 2003-04.

- Howard ranks sixth all-time in school history in assists (253) and 38th in scoring (1,049 points). He's made more threes than anyone in school history with 228.

- Alcorn's last road win came on Feb. 17, 2018 when it defeated Alabama A&M 80-60. The Braves are looking to snap a 21-game road skid.

- Senior
Devon Brewer has turned away 71 career blocks, and is attempting to become just the ninth player in school history to reach the 80-block plateau. He swatted away three blocks at Little Rock.
