HOUSTON, Texas – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program fell to the Texas Southern Tigers and Prairie View A&M Panthers to open SWAC play.

Against TSU, junior Mireya Gonzalez and senior Anjelica Dugan both logged a shot while freshman Kali Helms went the entire way in the net while saving 14 balls.

Versus PVAMU, Helms was in goal for the first 61:50, making six saves while shutting out the Panthers in the first half. Senior Giselle Rojas came on in relief over the final 28:10 to tally three saves.

Helms now has 73 saves through seven matches which ranks as the eighth-most through a single season. She is six saves behind Maegan Aria who racked up 79 saves during the 2014 campaign.

Rojas' three saves versus the purple and gold gives her 167 for her career, four shy of passing Quintiya Miller for the program's all-time record of 170 from 2003-2006.
