LORMAN, Miss. – Playing its best basketball of the season, the Alcorn State University men's program will look to keep rolling when it hosts Alabama A&M at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Alabama State at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.

Alcorn (8-9, 4-2 SWAC) is riding a three-game winning-streak. Additionally, the program has won seven of the last eight, and 11 of the last 13 home games. The Braves have outscored the opposition 585-393 at home this year.

The Braves are coming off an unbeaten road weekend where they posted a pair of lopsided wins. They took down Mississippi Valley State 105-73 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff 82-54. The 105 points scored against MVSU were the most against a SWAC opponent since 2011-12.

Senior
Deshaw Andrews is the reigning SWAC Player of the Week winner. He averaged 24.0 points per game, shot 15-for-23 (.652) from the field and was nearly perfect from the charity stripe (9-of-10). Andrews netted a career-high 30 points in the victory over the Golden Lions.

Alcorn has used the long-range shot to its advantage all season. The Braves rank fifth in the nation in three-point percentage (.399), seventh in threes made per game (10.5). Individually, senior
Maurice Howard is 11th in the country in three-point percentage (.449).

The Braves have four student-athletes averaging in double-figures. It includes Howard, who scores a league-leading 18.8 points per game in conference.

Howard has made more threes than anyone in school history with 260. He also ranks fifth in the school record book in assists with 290. Howard has scored 1,215 career points with a career-high of 31 at Texas Southern this year.

Junior
Troymain Crosby averages 13.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He submitted a career-high 27 points last weekend at MVSU.

Senior
Corey Tillery scores 13.2 points per outing and is tied with Howard for first in the SWAC in threes made per game with 3.2, which is 17th in the nation. He was 6-for-12 from long range at MVSU.

Andrews registers 13.2 points per game and is shooting .500 (37-74) from beyond-the-arc and a league-leading .895 (53-57) from the free throw line, which is also 13th in the nation.

Alcorn's leading rebounder is junior
Kobe Wilson with 5.9 rebounds per outing. He ranks top-five in the conference in offensive rebounding with 3.8 per game. Wilson has secured at least 10 rebounds in three games this year.

AAMU (5-11, 2-3 SWAC) and ASU (3-15, 2-3 SWAC) played each other last weekend, with the Hornets pulling out a 65-56 win on the road.

The Bulldogs are led by Cameron Alford who averages 14.6 points and 5.0 rebounds on the season. AAMU posted non-conference wins over Troy 80-66 and Jacksonville State 67-62. In conference, the Bulldogs have beaten Jackson State 66-57 on the road and UAPB 59-49 at home.

The Hornets lead the SWAC in three-point defense, limiting conference opponents to just a .241 clip. Tobi Ewuosho is the team's scoring leader with 14.6 points per game including a .514 (90-175) field goal percentage.

- In Alcorn's last home game, the Braves handed Grambling State its first conference loss of the year 87-69. Alcorn never trailed and shot 13-for-31 (.419) from three. Howard tallied a game-high 24 points and eight assists.

- Texas Southern's only loss this year in conference was at home to Alcorn. The Braves shot .607 (17-28) from three and .923 (24-26) from the free throw line. Howard netted a career-high 31 points, while Tillery tallied a career-high 26 points. Howard was 14-for-15 from the free throw line.
