GRAMBLING, La. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program as a team fell to Grambling (5-2) but saw an individual achievement as Mireya Gonzalez moved into fifth place on the program's all-time points and goals list in the match.

The Lady Braves (0-5, 0-5 SWAC) had four of its five shots on the afternoon be on target, good for a shot-on-goal percentage of 80%.

Gonzalez was the squad's leader in shot attempts (6) coming into the contest but had yet to place one on goal. That changed in a big way versus the Lady Tigers, placing all three of her shots on target including her eighth career goal and first of the 2021 spring campaign.

Rosalina Santoro was the other goal scorer for the Purple and Gold, connecting on one of her two shots on the day as she found the nylon net past keeper Britt Verhees.

For Grambling State, Kailey Pena recorded two goals within the first ten minutes of the match with another goal by Haylee O'Leary sandwiched in between.

Paula Burillo-Blasco capped the goal production for GSU, scoring twice in a three minute span to make it 5-2 in favor of the Black and Gold.

Grambling improves to 15-3-1 against the Lady Braves in program history.

Alcorn gets Saturday off before playing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
