HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Alcorn State University women's soccer program got an exceptional all-around defensive performance plus a superb effort out of goalkeeper Vivian Lugo but failed to score in a 1-0 match.

The Lady Braves (0-7, 0-7 SWAC) averaged a save every ten minutes as Lugo was stout between the pipes with nine saves and one goal surrendered over a full 90 minutes.

Mireya Gonzalez had one of team's two shots and the only one on target while Paula Cabeza had the other.

Alabama A&M (2-3, 2-2 SWAC) went 13-of-26 (.500) with shots-on-goal and Jodi Medina made a save on the only on-target shot she faced.

Makayla Rushing netted the game's lone goal from the right corner in the 19th minute which turned out to be the clincher.

The Purple and Gold fell to 1-17-2 all-time opposite AAMU.

Coach Larry's troops take the short trip south to Montgomery to face the Lady Hornets of Alabama State on Sunday afternoon.
