PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Alcorn State University volleyball program had a difficult time slowing down an efficient UAPB offense, falling on the road in three.
The Lady Braves (1-4, 1-4 SWAC) did not record a single service ace while Arkansas-Pine Bluff notched five of their own as the Purple and Gold is still trying to shake off the rust from its long layoff.
Jasmine Chambers, fresh off moving into seventh place on the all-time assists leaderboard yesterday, put together yet another double-double performance with 15 assists and 12 digs.
Mar'ria Phillips was the one consistent offensive player for Coach Robinson, clubbing ten kills as well as contributing two digs and a solo block on defense.
Mariah Wilmoth led Alcorn on defense for the second night in-a-row, notching 16 digs to go along with three assists.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions | L, 0-3 (19-25, 11-25, 10-25)
Things looked bleak for the ladies from Lorman right off the bat, giving the home squad an 8-2 advantage within the first ten points of the match. The Lady Braves would crawl back to within four at 14-10 but that was as close as they would come as Pine Bluff tore off five of the next six to put the set out of reach, 19-25.
The second set began with a kill by Fiapaipai Iosia, a point by UAPB and a kill by Mikenzie Young-Mullins to spot Alcorn an early 2-1 edge. The set would slowly unravel from there but the Lady Braves still had a punchers chance down 15-9 halfway through the set. Unfortunately for Coach Robinson's team Arkansas-Pine Bluff unleashed the back-breaker, nine unanswered points and ten of the final 12 to win, 11-25.
The Black and Gold would carry that momentum all the way through to the third set, taking care of business after being deadlocked at four to garner a sweep at 10-25.
The Purple and Gold clad ladies will return home to makeup a postponed home match with Southern University at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening inside the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
