Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Braves Win Doubles Point, Lose Match In SWAC Finale

VICKSBURG, Miss. – The Alcorn State University men's tennis program battled back after losing the first game to claim the doubles point but could not capitalize in singles play, falling 4-1 to the Hornets.

The Braves (3-10, 2-3 SWAC) rode the pair of #1 David Pata / Luka Andonov (6-3) and #2 Lucas Dini / Stojan Stojanovski (7-5) to a doubles point victory over Alabama State's Alejo Calvis / Kristofer Johnson and Assil Boussayri / Ruan Du Preez, respectively.

Unfortunately for Coach Moore's squad, singles competition favored the visitors from Montgomery, Alabama. #1 Pata took Chris Andre to three sets while winning the first one but the match was called before he could finish the job (6-3, 1-6, 2-5).

Elsewhere, Stojanovski took seven points from the second slot opposite Du Preez (4-6, 3-4), #4 Dini had five versus Juan Rodriguez (4-6, 1-6) while Andonov and Santaigo Rocca took four apiece.

Alcorn tennis has one more match before it heads to New Orleans for the SWAC Championships, a home date with William Carey on April 7 at 2 p.m. in Lorman.
