JACKSON, Miss. – The Alcorn State University baseball program was only able to get one hit as its bats fell silent in an 11-0 defeat at JSU.
The Braves (6-12, 6-10 SWAC) had its lone hit come off the stick of
Tristin Garcia to lead off the fourth and drew two walks courtesy of Garcia as well as
Jarius Colley.
George Osborne III was a bright spot in a rather forgettable afternoon, posting his first career hitless outing plus the redshirt sophomore struck out a season-best four batters in the final 2.1 innings of the contest.
Jackson State (24-7, 18-0 SWAC) put on an offensive display of seven extra base hits, 13 total and 11 runs scored in a seven-inning affair.
Preseason SWAC Pitcher of the Year Nikelle Galatas lived up to his billing, producing a complete game one-hit shutout with four punchouts on just 76 pitches.
JSU improved its record to 167-101-1 against Alcorn.
Coach Richardson and the Baseball Braves will no longer have to go on the road during the regular season, ending the year with six straight ballgames at Willie E. "Rat" McGowan Stadium starting with a three-game series against Alabama A&M on Friday.
