LORMAN, Miss. – The Braves men's tennis team battled against Nicholls State on Monday, April 11, pushing the Colonels to extra sets in the singles competition and conquering the doubles contests. Still, it was not enough for an early week victory. Alcorn dropped the match 5-2 at the Alcorn State Tennis Complex to move to 4-12 on the season.
The Braves grabbed an early lead, taking the doubles point with a 2-1 showing. On court two, Alcorn pair Isaac Santitto and Lucas Dini defeated Antoine Martin-Thiriat 6-3, and Karem Bowe and Santiago Rocca outlasted Omar Morsy and Antonio Sasso 6-3 on court three.
In the singles contest, Andonov carried the fight to three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6, to grab the Braves' only singles game. Dini took his contest to three frames but was unsuccessful in the outing, falling 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 to Piyush Surendra Salekar.
David Pata had a close contest as well. He fell 6-2 and 7-6 on court one to Morsy.
Nicholls State collected the wins on the other courts to defeat the Braves 5-2.
Alcorn State men's tennis returns to action on Thursday, April 14, hosting Mississippi College on Senior Night. Come out and support the Braves as they play their final home game of the 2022 season.
