Braves Tennis Advances to Semifinals, Defeats Prairie View 4-2

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 3 Alcorn State men's tennis defeated No. 5 Prairie View A&M in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament. The Braves improve to 6-12 on the season and advance to the semifinal.

The Braves defeated the Panthers 4-2, grabbing the first point by sweeping the doubles contest. Alcorn pair Luka Andonov and Luka Rodic had a decisive 6-1 victory over PV's Adrien Blackwell and Jaydn Boone on court two. David Pata and Lucas Dini took the second set on court one, taking down Jorge Cabellero and Diego Hatem 7-5.

Alcorn took three of five completed singles contests for the remaining points. Pata defeated Juan Viada 6-1, 6-3. Luka Andonov topped Diego Hatem 7-6, 6-2, and Luka Rodic outlasted Blackwell 7-5, 6-1.

The Braves move to the semifinal round and will face No. 2 Jackson State at 1 p.m.
