Greetings, Alcorn Family,
I could not be more excited to be addressing you for the first time as the new Director of Athletics at Alcorn State University. As a former football student-athlete and a two-time graduate, this institution means the world to me.
I want to invite you to our annual Purple and Gold Spring Game this Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. at Jack Spinks – Marino Casem Stadium. Our Braves football team needs and deserves our support as they work to get back to the top of the SWAC and Atlanta in December for the Cricket Celebration Bowl. That journey starts in the spring, so I hope to see you pack the stadium this weekend.
Season football tickets will be on sale beginning Commencement and Alumni Weekend on Saturday, May 14. Please renew, and if you haven't purchased season tickets in the past, what better time than now? More information will be available on AlcornSports.com and all our social media channels in the coming weeks.
Our spring sports are also in full swing, and the future looks bright; our chances to collect SWAC hardware will be plentiful. I also want to ask that you support Braves baseball this weekend at the William "Rat" McGowan Stadium, as they play host to Southern on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday's first pitch is at 6:00 p.m., with Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Our tennis teams will also be in action at the Alcorn Tennis Complex, taking on Xavier of Louisiana on Friday at 2 p.m. and SWAC rival Mississippi Valley State on Saturday at 10 a.m. Your support of our hard-working and dedicated student-athletes is invaluable.
I firmly believe exciting times are ahead and that Alcorn State Athletics' best days are still to come. Your support of our students means more than you could ever know, and I hope to see that support not just for football or basketball but also for all athletic programs in the classroom, and in the community.
Thank you for being a Brave, and I hope to greet you on campus very soon!
Raynoid A. Dedeaux
Director of Athletics
