PV Completes Sweep of Braves Baseball

LORMAN, Miss. – After Saturday's game was converted to a doubleheader due to possible rain on Sunday, Prairie View A&M completed the sweep of the Braves baseball team with scores of 13-1 and 18-3 at Bill Foster Field inside William' Rat' McGowan Stadium.

Four players for Alcorn connected for two hits each during Saturday's doubleheader. Tyler Daniels and Jamil Betancourt had two hits in game one, while Deigo Lopez-Molina and Clay Wright sparked in game two.

Starting the first game of the day, Austin Guzman (2-5) recorded his fifth loss of the season, pitching for 4.0 innings for two strikeouts, seven hits against, and six earned runs. Jermel Ford (0-6) occupied the mound for four innings in the second contest for nine hits against, 11 runs (eight earned), three walks, and two strikeouts.

Prairie View connected for 24 hits in the two competitions and outscored Alcorn 31-4. Matthew Krall (5-4) was credited with the first pitching victory, occupying the mound for 7.0 innings for six hits against, one run, three walks, and four strikeouts. Victor Mendoza (3-4) recorded the second, throwing for 6.0 innings, seven hits against, three runs (two earned), and two strikeouts.

The Braves will travel to Texas Southern next weekend for the season's second to last road series. Alcorn will take on the Tigers at 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
