Alcorn State Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

LORMAN, Miss. – Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Melissa Robinson, Alcorn State Volleyball released its 2022 playing schedule on the afternoon of Monday, July 11, with the Braves set to compete in four regular season tournaments on the slate.
 
Alcorn State enters into the 2022 campaign looking to build upon the success found late-on during the 2021 season where the Braves won two of their final four matches away from home in league play.
 
The Braves begin the 2022 slate taking part in the Bash in the Boro Tournament hosted by Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia. The Braves are joined by teams from USC Upstate and Stetson, in addition to the host Eagles of GSU, with the tournament scheduled for the weekend of August 26-27. The following weekend, Alcorn travels to Boca Raton, Florida for the Paradise Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic. Joining the Braves and host Owls of FAU is fellow Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) member Arkansas-Pine Bluff and "Sunshine State" opponent Stetson.
 
The upcoming 2022 season's edition of the ISTAP HBCU Challenge will be hosted by Alabama State in Montgomery, Alabama the weekend of September 9-10. More information on the in-season event will be released as it becomes available. Continue to check the Alcorn State athletics website for updates.
 
The Braves step away from in-season tournament play when they travel to Louisiana-Monroe for a single match on September 13. However, Alcorn will play its fourth and final in-season tournament when the Braves travel north to Nashville, where they will feature as one-of-four teams during the Tennessee State Invitational hosted by TSU. Joining Alcorn and TSU are teams from Belmont and North Alabama, respectively.
 
Alcorn will enjoy its first home matches of the season inside the friendly confines of the Davey L. Whitney Complex when the Braves turn their attention to conference play in welcoming Grambling State for the SWAC-opener for both schools on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. A day later, the Braves play host to UAPB in a SWAC match-up scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
A trip to SWAC foe Southern University (October 6) precedes the Braves traveling to feature in what is scheduled to be the first of two SWAC Cluster events on the season, with the initial "east meets west" formatted affair scheduled for Sunday, Oct.9, continuing through Monday, Oct. 10. All games are slated to take place on the campus of Alabama State in Montgomery.
 
Alcorn returns home to host a pair of SWAC contests against Texas Southern (October 16) and Prairie View A&M (October 17), before taking on UAPB (October 23) in a return match in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, in addition to a league contest away to Grambling State (October 24) in Grambling, Louisiana.
 
The second SWAC Cluster event of the 2022 campaign is scheduled to take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with Southern hosting the occurrence Sunday, Oct. 30, continuing on through Monday, Oct. 31.
 
The Braves will close-out the 2022 home portion of their schedule on Thursday, Nov. 3, when Alcorn welcomes Southern to the Davey L. Whitney Complex at 6 p.m.
 
The final two regular season matches of the 2022 campaign will occur in the "Lone Star State" where the Braves travel to Texas Southern (November 13) and Prairie View A&M (November 14), respectively.
 
The 2022 SWAC Volleyball Championships are set to take place November 18-20, on the campus of Texas Southern in Houston. For more information on the 2022 SWAC Volleyball Championships, please visit SWAC.org.
