Braves Student-Athletes Named to Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Alcorn athletes honored for academic excellence

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – More than 180 student-athletes from Alcorn State University were named to the 2021-22 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Commissioner's Honor Roll, released Friday, July 29, from the SWAC Office in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
The SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. The Commissioner of the SWAC is Dr. Charles McClelland, who has been at the SWAC since 2018.
 
Throughout the 2021-22 academic term, a total of 1,873 student-athletes within the league met that benchmark of academic success during the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters, marking the highest collective total of student-athletes to qualify within the past five academic years.
 
For Alcorn State, the breakdown of student-athletes privileged to the 2021-22 SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll were as follows: Men's Basketball (2), Women's Basketball (9), Baseball (16), Softball (18), Football (62), Soccer (21), Men's Tennis (8), Women's Tennis (8), Men's Cross Country (12), Women's Cross Country (15) and Volleyball (11).
