Lady Braves Fall to Texas Southern on Road, 4-2

Box Score HOUSTON, Texas – The Alcorn State University Lady Braves soccer team dropped a third Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match to Texas Southern University, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Alcorn (2-8,0-3 SWAC) scored the first goal of the match at the 4' mark as Samara Nunn used an assist from Jaidyn Matheu, 1-0. In the 23rd minute, the Lady Tigers Hajar Benjoud scored a goal to knot the match at 1-1. The last goal of the first half of the contest was scored by TSU's Kennedy Tristan at the 39th minute, 2-1.

The Lady Braves came out firing and were able to score a goal at the 46th minute as Jiselle Bartres used an assist from Nunn, 2-2. ASU relinquished two goals to Texas Southern towards the end of the second half to suffer the loss. At the 66th minute, the Lady Tigers Isabella Dillow scored to make the score, 3-2. The last goal of the match was scored by TSU's Liliane Clase Baez off a Dillow assist, 4-2.

Alcorn's Paula Argelaguet was in the goal and picked the loss with five saves on the day. Texas Southern's Alessandra Bastidas and Jaidyn Christophe shared time in the goal. Bastidas snapped up the win with three saves on the day.

The Lady Braves will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 1 as they face Prairie View A&M University at 1 p.m.
