HUMBLE, Texas – Head Coach
Nate Kilbert and the Alcorn State University Lady Braves basketball team were tabbed to finish ninth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) during the SWAC Women's Basketball Media Day on Oct. 3. The team also picked up a spot on the All-SWAC Preseason First Team. The poll was voted on by conference head coaches and sports information directors.
ASU finished the season 12-17 on season with an 8-10 league record. As a team, the Lady Braves averaged 64 points and 36 rebounds per game.
Alcorn's
Destiny Brown was named to the All-SWAC Preseason First Team with her stellar performance last season. The junior forward from Los Angeles, Calif. earned the honors as she led the team in points and rebounding, averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. Her best game of the season came against Alabama State University as she scored 28 points and went 10-of-13 from the line.
Alcorn State will open the season on the road going head-to-head with Mississippi State University at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Miss. on Monday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
