LORMAN, Miss. -- The Alcorn State University Lady Braves soccer team fell to Grambling State University in their Sunday afternoon match, 0-1, to close out 2023 Homecoming festivities. The loss moves ASU to 3-10 on the season and 1-5 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.Â
Alcorn contended with the Lady Tigers (9-4-4, 6-0 SWAC) until the final minutes of the game. The lone goal was scored at the 59th minute by Grambling's Karlyn Judge off an assist from Beatriz Kretteis. The Lady Braves had eight shots on the day compared to GSU's 19.Â
Paula Argelaguet picked up the loss for ASU with 13 saves while Grambling State's Madison Covey-Taylor snapped a win with seven saves.Â
The Lady Braves will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 13 at home against Alabama State University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.Â
