CLEMSON, S.C. -- Alcorn State University men's basketball took the court against Clemson University on Friday night. The Braves went the distance against the Tigers but were defeated 69-90.
ASU finished the night with five cagers with double-digit point totals. Alcorn was led by
Jeremiah Gambrell with 17 points, two assists and one rebound. He was followed by Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt who scored 13 points and recorded three assists and one rebound.
Djahi Binet and
Dekedran Thorn racked up 12 points each. Binet also tallied a team-high eight rebounds and two blocks.
Jeremiah Kendall rounded out the team's performance with 10 points, two rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block.
As a team, Alcorn ended the game going 50 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from the line. The Braves were able to score 26 paint points.
Clemson was led by P.J. Hall with 29 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. He was followed by Chase Hunter with 18 points, two rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Joseph Girard, III had the third highest point total with 13 points and he tallied four rebounds and four assists. The top rebounder was Ian Schieffelin with 10.
Collectively, the Tigers finished the night with 48.6 percent from the field, 61.1 percent from the stripe, and scored 44 points in the paint.
The Braves will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 10 as they travel to Virginia Commonwealth University. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. (CT).
