RICHMOND, Va. -- Alcorn State University men's basketball (1-8) traveled to Virginia Commonwealth University (5-5) on Sunday afternoon. The Braves fought hard but were defeated by the Rams, 58-86.
  ASU had two student-athletes with double digit point totals at the end of the game.
Jeremiah Kendall was the leader for the Braves with 17 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. He was followed by
Byron Joshua with 13 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
  Collectively, Alcorn shot 34.5 percent from the field, 84.2 percent from the free throw line, and 28 points in the paint.
  VCU finished the game with five scorers in the double-digits. Zeb Jackson was the leader 18 points, seven assists, and three steals. He was followed by Kuary Kuary with 15 points and five rebounds. Alphonzo Billups, III and Toibu Lawal finished the game with 10 points each. Lawal completed a double double with a team-high 10 rebounds.Â
  As a team, Virginia Commonwealth finished the day going 48.3 percent from the field, 84.6 percent from the stripe, and scored 24 paint points.
Alcorn State will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 12 against the University of Maryland. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. (CT) / 7 p.m. (ET).
