CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Alcorn State University men's basketball traveled to the University of Northern Iowa for a Sunday game. The Braves fought hard but were defeated by the Panthers, 82-100.
ASU finished the day with four players in the double digits.
Jeremiah Kendall led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. He was followed by
Jeremiah Gambrell with 20 points and four rebounds.
Stephen Byard and
Roderick Jones each accounted for 12 points. Jones was the assist leader with seven.
As a team, Alcorn went 53.6 percent from the field, 68.2 percent from the line, and scored 34 points in the paint. The Braves bench outscored the Panthers, 30-21.
UNI was led by Nate Heise with 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists. He was followed by Tytan Robinson with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Michael Duax rounded out the top three scorers with 10 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Bowen Born was the assist leader with six and Trey Campbell led the team in rebounds.
Collectively, UNI ended the game going 56.7 percent from the field, 85.7 percent from the stripe, and scored 34 paint points.
Alcorn will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Des Moines, Ia. against Drake University. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
