DES MOINES, Ia. – Alcorn State University men's basketball dropped a tough loss to Drake University on Tuesday night. The Braves fought hard but lost to the Bulldogs, 55-92.
ASU (1-11) was led by
Jeremiah Kendall with 19 points and three rebounds. He was followed by
Stephen Byard and
Jeremiah Gambrell with 11 points each. Byard finished night with a team-high five assists while
Dekedran Thorn snatched up three steals.
As a team, Alcorn went 31.1 percent from the field and 59.1 percent from the line.
Drake (11-1) was led by Atin Wright with 24 points and four assists. He was followed by Kryon Gibson with 19 points and six assists. Kevin Overton finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Darnell Brodie came down with a team high 12 rebounds.
Collectively, Drake went 46.2 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the stripe.
Alcorn will stay on the road and head to the nation's capital, Washington D.C. to face George Washington University on Dec. 21. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. (CT).
