Women's Tennis Defeats Bethune-Cookman, 4-0

JACKSON, Miss. – The Lady Braves Tennis team ended its winning drought in its first contest of the SWAC Pod on Friday, Feb. 17. Alcorn defeated conference-foe Bethune-Cookman, 4-0, to improve to 1-4 on the season, as the Wildcats fall to 0-2.

Alcorn came out of the gate strong, taking the doubles point to start the match 1-0. Jaime Edwards and Tangia Riley-Codrington took the first doubles set after going uncontested on court three. Duo Mikaela Konstantinova and Kimberley Kaome sealed the doubles point for the Lady Braves on court two, defeating Keona Burley and Loncey Ellie, 6-0. On court one, Aizat Zholdakayeva and Nicole Kells led Diarra Thomas and Janet Imbo Nloga 3-1 when the point was called for Alcorn.

The singles match went down quickly for the Braves, with Alcorn sweeping Bethune-Cookman to claim every point. Edwards won uncontested on court six. Kells defeated Courdeja Clark. 6-0, 6-0, on court five.and Kaome won her match against Ellie, 6-0, 6-1, on court four.
