Kendall Puts Up 18 Points in 75-71 Loss Against Prairie View

LORMAN, Miss. – Jeremiah Kendall had 18 points and ten rebounds, but a late rally came up just short as the Alcorn State men's basketball team lost 75-71 versus Prairie View A&M Saturday evening.

Kendall, a junior forward competing against his previous team, made seven of 10 shots from the field and added all four free throw shots to lead the Braves in scoring. He also brought down two offensive rebounds and eight defensive for his fourth double-double.

Two other Alcorn players hit points in the double-digits. Byron Joshua had 17 points, four rebounds, and four assists, and Dontrell McQuarter had 11 points and six rebounds.

Due to the loss, Alcorn State (15-12, s 12-3 SWAC) is now tied with Grambling for the number one spot in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Braves made 27 of 59 (45.8 percent) shots from the field with just 2 of 10 (20 percent) in three-point range. They also saw some improvement at the line, making 15 of 18 (83.3 percent), an 8-point improvement from the previous contest.

Prairie View A&M (12-17, 8-8 SWAC) is sixth in the conference standings. Will Douglas led the Panthers with 23 points, Yahuza Rasas and Hegel Augustin had 16 each, and Braden Bell added 11. PV went 25-for-60 (41.7 percent) from the floor, with 7 of 19 (36.8 percent) beyond the arc. They also made 18-of-21 (85.7 percent) at the line.

Alcorn will return to action on Monday, Feb. 27, taking on the Tigers of Texas Southern. The game is set for 8:00 p.m. and will stream live on HBCU GO.
