Prairie View, TEXAS –The Alcorn State baseball team split the final two contests of the Prairie View series to move to 6-28 on the season and 3-14 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
GAME TWO
The Braves scored seven late-game runs to force an extra inning and defeat PVAM 13-10 Saturday afternoon.
Several Alcorn players contributed to the Braves offense, with three connecting for home runs against the Panthers. Kalum Banks, Jr. connected for two homers, while Tyler Daniels and Chris Tillman had one each.
Tillman and Jermel Ford led Alcorn at the plate. They both had 3-for-5 appearances, while Ford had one run and one RBI, and Tillman had one run and two RBIs.
Banks, Jr. led the team in RBIs with four, and Daniels led the team in runs with three.
On the mound, Kiki Ford, Jr. entered the contest in the ninth inning to claim the pitching win. He threw for one inning with two strikeouts, two hits, and one earned run. Kevin Jackson came in in the tenth for the save.
Starting the contest, Kewan Braziel pitched for 7.0 innings with four strikeouts, two hits against, and three earned runs.
GAME THREE
Alcorn dropped game three of the series, falling 20-10 to Prairie View Sunday afternoon.
Banks, Jr. again led the Braves offense with a perfect 3-for-3 appearance. The Atlanta, Ga. native racked up three RBIs with two runs.
Ben Luckett hit Alcorn's only home run in the contest. He also contributed four RBIs and one run.
Kameron Hopson took the loss on the mound. He entered the game in the fifth inning to pitch for 1.1 innings with one strikeout, five hits against, and six runs (five earned).
Austin Delgado delivered four strikeouts against the Panthers. He threw for three innings, taking the mound in the second, for six hits against and four earned runs.
The Braves will be back in action Tuesday afternoon when they host Grambling State University at 3 p.m.
