BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has announced its 2022-23 Academic Awards institutional winners.
The SWAC Academic Success Award is an award decided based upon each member institutions collective ranking in the categories of highest four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) average, highest single year APR average, and highest Graduate Success Rate (GSR).
Jackson State claimed the Academic Success Award finishing with a total of 35 points based upon the point scale system used to determine an institutional winner. Texas Southern (27.5) and
Alcorn State (25.5) round out the list of top three finishers within the conference.
Alabama State (65 percent) claimed the All-Academic Achievement Award which is presented annually to the athletic program that has the highest percentage of student-athletes that earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better during the academic year.
Alcorn State (58 percent) finished second, while Alabama A&M (55 percent) finished in third place overall.

Women's competition is offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis and Volleyball.
