BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Office released its official list of the 2025-26 Commissioner's Honor Roll and All-Academic Achievement Award honorees on Friday, June 12, with 165 total student-athletes from Alcorn on the list being honored this athletic and academic term.
 
The SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.
 
"I want to congratulate our academics team, advisors, faculty and our student-athletes for being so diligent in their studies and working hard to maintain 3.0 GPAs and more throughout the year," said E. D'Wayne Robinson, Athletic Director at Alcorn. "Dr. [Jivanna] Smith and Mrs. [Angel] Brooks-Thomas do such a tremendous job for us, and our faculty and staff and team of advisors and tutors and just everyone. They really are a part of our bigger team that support our student-athletes in the most important area – the classroom."
 
Alcorn came in third overall in the All-Academic Achievement Award race with 63 percent of its student-athletes earning a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better during the academic year.
 
Alabama State won this year's award with 73 percent, followed by Alabama A&M with 72 percent, respectively.
 
The breakdown of student-athletes represented per sport for the Braves is as follows: Baseball (26), Men's Basketball (10), Men's Rack & Field / Cross Country (9), Football (32), Men's Tennis (7), Women's Basketball (14), Softball (17), Women's Track & Field (18), Women's Tennis (7), Soccer (16) and Volleyball (9).
 
"This is always a huge shot in the arm for us as a department, and makes us feel proud of the job we do day in and day out," expressed Dr. Jivanna Smith, Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services. "We absolutely love our student-athletes competing well on the field, court and track. But to see them excel in the classroom every year – that's what makes myself and Angel Brooks-Thomas feel like our hard work has not gone unnoticed."
